Detective Janette Rage is called back home when Little Joseph finds a body in Sunken Valley as he is preparing for the Tribal spring rituals. Sheriff George is getting older and so Rage’s father calls her to come and help. As a young lady in college Janette found, and with Little Joseph’s help explored the Sunken Valley many years ago. The Valley is part of the Rage’s farm and Janette’s father deeded the Valley over to the Tribe for their use. After college Janette moves to Seattle and in time becomes a Homicide detective. (See Sunken Valley - Found # 73)
Rage brings a friend, patrolman Jones to assist her. It is a long hike and even longer to bring the body out to the trailhead. Rage’s friend, Colonel Hill supplies a Huey chopper to drop them in and airlifts the body to the trailhead. At the trailhead, three FBI agents attempt to take the case over. Rage’s makes a call to the Northwest FBI Director.
At the trailhead Rage shoots the fake agent as they leave. By the time he is handcuffed; he commits suicide. The comment is made, ‘money does not buy that type of loyalty.’
The FBI floods the area with agents, the Colonel provides the aircover to keep everyone safe. What is so important in Sunken Valley that people are willing to die for? What do the Elders of the Tribe know of the Valley? And why did the Tribe burn down the original Rage’s family cabin in the Sunken Valley after they moved to their new cabin outside the Sunken Valley.
